A Plate Of Grapes

Years ago there was a show I used to love called Connections. An excerpt from Wikipedia describes the premise:

“It took an interdisciplinary approach to the history of science and invention and demonstrated how various discoveries, scientific achievements, and historical world events were built from one another successively in an interconnected way to bring about particular aspects of modern technology.”

It was pretty cool. Anyway, I was reminded of this show because of a… connection I made recently. I was watching Cars 2 and when I heard the voice of the great Bruce Campbell as Rod “Torque” Redline. It reminded me of the new game, Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. The opening scene of Skyrim mirrors the opening scene in a Bruce Campbell classic, Army of Darkness.

In both, the leaders of an opposing army are captured and about to be executed. Unfortunately for the protagonists they’re captured at the same time (even though they have nothing to do with the conflict).

As I was playing the game, I expected my fellow prisoner to quote Ash, “I never even saw these assholes before!”
